MLM Income and Earnings Disclaimer 101!

MLM Income and Earnings Disclaimer Use 101!Specific earnings and income claims entice potential customers. These claims are often made in connection with offering business opportunities and with MLM plans online. Misleading earnings or income claims are deceptive and illegal in general under Section 5 of the FTC Act. But, they pose other concerns in connection with offering business opportunities and in selling MLM type plans.

The basic premise behind FTC endorsement disclosure requirements is that the advertiser cannot claim through an endorsement anything that cannot be claimed directly. Advertisers must have a reasonable basis and must be able to back up any specific claim made. Exaggerated earnings claims are deceitful and are always deceptive. Claiming extraordinary results by making a specific earnings or income claim that is not representative of the results achieved by a substantial number of consumers is deceptive. Advertisers are not free to make such direct claims without properly qualifying them through the use of appropriate disclosures and disclaimers.

The following summary provides some legal guidelines for MLM and other businesses that must use income or earnings disclosure(s).

Types of Claims

1. Specific Earnings & Income Claims

These are basically claims based on some specific amount of earnings achieved by using some product or service being sold. Earnings claims are “any statements from which a prospective purchaser can reasonably infer that he or she will earn a minimum level of income.” Earn “up to $10,000 each month,” “Make over $3,000 a week from your couch!” or “I made $22,222 my first month using this powerful system and so can you” are all examples of specific earnings claims.

Not all truthful income claims are improper; the key is presenting proper disclosures to support the claim so that it is not deceptive. The problem is that usually these claims are exaggerated where the advertiser has no reasonable basis for making the clam. When they aren’t exaggerated, the claim usually boasts about extraordinary results and, of course, fails to mention this fact prominently to the consumer. Both practices are deceptive and violate Section 5 of the FTC Act!

The FTC believes earnings claims are highly relevant to consumers in making their decisions and typically are the single most decisive factor. Due to the significance of earnings claims in a purchaser’s decision and the number of complaints that it receives about earnings claims, the FTC scrutinizes them. (Earnings claims also include any chart, table, or calculation that demonstrates possible results). Businesses should really avoid advertising any specific earnings/income claims altogether. Unfortunately, for most Internet advertisers, using proper disclosures will defeat the purpose (i.e. the message) of using the exaggerated or uncommon earnings claims to begin with.

2. Vague & General Claims

Vague and general claims such as “achieve all of your dreams” or “get everything you ever wanted!” may not be deceptive. If those claims are phrased in terms of an opportunity or possibility or a chance that can come true with hard work, maximum effort, etc., they tend not to mislead the reasonable consumer. “Explode your sales” may not be misleading given the overall context of the ad. But, “explode your sales overnight” really makes a specific claim and is likely to be misleading.

Of course the entire context of the claim would be evaluated. It is better to err on the side of caution and simply avoid using these types of claims if possible.

3. Lifestyle & Hypothetical Claims

Lifestyle and hypothetical income claims are viewed, at a minimum, as implied claims by the FTC. They are usually made in connection with business opportunities. They will be considered income claims and the same disclosure requirements as with any other earnings or income based claim must be followed. Examples of these types of claims include “check out my new Porsche” or “I vacation 10 times a year.” A picture of someone sitting on the hood of a brand new BMW with a mansion in the background presents an implied lifestyle claim. Someone sitting on a yacht on their laptop as an image on your website is yet again an implied lifestyle claim if made in connection with an earnings claim.

These claims give off the impression of a certain hypothetical outcome. Avoid making these types of claims as they can be just as deceptive as specific earnings/income claims.

Using Specific Earnings Disclosures

There are different ways to use disclosures. There is no “exact” placement, magic language or a required manner of making a disclosure. But, given the nature of specific income and results claims, an “in-line” or natural type of disclosures within or immediately after the claim should be used. The disclaimer can flow naturally within the content in order not to disrupt the flow of your message.

The bottom line is that income and earnings disclosures are an integral part of the underlying claim. Again, these are ‘hot button’ type claims from the FTC’s point of view. Potential customers are likely going to purchase a product based upon their expectations created by the earnings or results claims made. The less likely potential customers are to notice a disclosure, the greater the probability the claim will be deceptive. Simply put, using disclosures immediately after an earnings claim will greatly increase the odds the disclosure will be effective.

As an example, the claim “I made $5,322 dollars in my first 6 months and you can too,” could be followed by the sentence “most customers should expect to make around $100 in the first six months.” Similarly, “Obtain a credit line in as little as 2 months” could be followed by “most customers should expect to receive a credit line within 8 months”. “Earn up to $1,000 per week with my proven system” could be followed by “most members earn approximately $50 per week.” Of course, there must be a reasonable basis for making any disclosures in the first place.

Using natural in-line type disclosures can be a very effective way to disclose necessary information while preserving sales. After all, bulky and awkward disclosure text may scare some potential customers away. Placing disclosures next to each earnings or results claim is a much smoother and an easier way to transition to the disclosure. Businesses should follow this method where possible. For instance, “although these results are extraordinary, some customers have made $5,000 or more each week using this system and we believe you can too.” This type of disclosure may not be appealing from a marketing standpoint, but the only lega

how You Can Improve Your Website Ranking On Google By Using SEOh

One of the biggest things a business needs to do in terms of Internet marketing is to ensure that their website has a high ranking, especially on Google. This is vital as the higher you are in the search engine results pages (SERP), the better the odds are of you being seen by potential customers. There are other ways of gaining visibility for your website, but high Google ranking is probably one of the biggest advantages that you can have in terms of attracting potential new customers. So the big question is, how you can improve your website ranking on Google?

The only real way to get your website ranking highly on Google is to carry out search engine optimization (SEO). There are no short cuts and it will meaning you need to invest either time or money (or both) to get your website rankings high – but it will be worth it in the end.

Did you know that if your website appears in the top 3 rankings on page 1 of Google, then, if the targeted key-phrase is searched, then the chances of the link to your website being clicked is over 60%. Once your site goes onto page 2 of the search engine results pages then those chances diminish. People rarely go beyond page 1 of the results pages when carrying out a search, so you really do need those page 1 rankings.

So you know what the goal is, but what is the first step? Without a doubt you need to select your keywords and key-phrases carefully. This is the single most important step you need to work on to ensure you don’t fail. In all honesty it is really easy to get a number 1 ranking on Google, but the hardest and most important thing is to get high rankings for the correct keywords. Keywords that people are using to search for businesses like yours. Getting number 1 ranking for keywords that are not being searched for are a waste of time.

I can’t stress this enough…do not start optimizing your website without thoroughly researching the keywords that are needed to bring back highly targeted traffic back to your website. A lot of business owners automatically start targeting keywords that they themselves would use to search for a business like theirs, and this is an elementary mistake that should be avoided. Spending the time to research keywords thoroughly will result in your not only optimizing your website, but also optimizing the amount of time you spend working on this project. Here are the things you should look at while researching your keywords:

– You are targeting keywords that are being searched by a lot of people on a regular basis

– Your keywords are commercial in intent, rather than using keywords that are mainly used by people who are simply carrying out research

– The competition that currently occupy the top 10 positions in Google are not so strong that you have very little chance of breaking into that exclusive club, no matter how long and hard you work on your search engine optimizing.

OK, so now you have identified the keywords you are going to use. What next? You need to take these keywords and carry out both onsite and offsite optimization. Always carry out the onsite optimization first as this takes less time and you are in complete control of this. Things you can do include; setting up your web pages with the correct meta tags and using the keywords in those wisely, using your keywords in the H1 tags on the webpage, using the keywords the correct number of times on the webpage, make sure your keywords are used in the first sentence of the first paragraph on your site, and the list goes on.

It would take too long to tell you everything that you need to do to get high Google rankings in the context of this article, but there are number of resources that you can search up on Google that will teach you pretty much everything that you need to do to get high search engine rankings. Be warned that there really are no short cuts if you want to get high, sustainable rankings on Google. There are also techniques that should be avoided if you don’t want to find that Google has blacklisted your website. Also, you should know that there really is no A-Z list of what you should do to get to the number 1 ranking on page of 1 of Google. There are things that are beyond your control that help to determine this e.g. what your competition is doing to their website in terms of optimizing it. So all you can do it try your best, and once you get on that all important first page, don’t rest on your laurels, as you will need to keep working to sustain that ranking, or even better, make it go higher on page 1.

Just because you have the best designed website, or the best content, there is no guarantee that you are going to get a lot of traffic and/or new business. You really need to invest the time (or hire a professional to invest that time for you) to optimize your website so that it is highly ranked on Google, and the other major search engines, and your ultimate reward will be more highly targeted traffic visiting your website and potentially more sales.

The World’s Most Dangerous Dogs

I imagine that there should be a piece on Animal Planet, the History Channel, et al, that needs a new angle: perhaps to uncover the world’s most astounding, vicious, and dangerous dogs. After all they’ve covered everything else and they’re probably running out of material. So it could be as I would depict it…

…Our attention must focus on the world’s most dangerous dogs. We will rank the danger dogs starting with the number 10 on the Dog Danger Scale. The most dangerous dogs in the world. The show begins…

10. The Sub Toy Chihuahua. Our experts consider it to be one of the most dangerous dogs in the world partially because of its extremely minute size. A Sub Toy Chihuahua attains an average height of 102 millimeters. When they bark as all Chihuahuas do, the pitch of their tiny barks is high enough to crack car windshields making the hapless driver unable to see oncoming traffic… often resulting in fatal accidents. For the reason that the deaths are almost always unintentional, we rate the Toy Chihuahua at number 10, yet still one of the World’s Most Dangerous Dogs.

9. The number 9 position is held by the Pug. Often referred to as the Chinese Pug because of its prominence in Chinese History. In the past, many of the Chinese emperors had them as lap dogs; however, there is a darker side to the Pug. They were utilized initially as attack dogs to keep out the barbarians from entering to the Chinese side of the Great Wall. However, when placed in roles of high stress, i.e., attack, guarding, etc., the Pug ran and hid in nearby streams. Regardless, they were utilized by the Chinese primarily as attack dogs because that’s all that they had at the time. In fact, the only way a pug would ever attack an armed barbarian was only in the unlikely event he had a piece of beef attached to his sleeve or shield. However, because the Pug was used historically as an attack dog despite, their battlefield incompetence, we have to rate them Number 9 in the Danger Dog Scale.

8. In the 8th Position is the Romanian Hockey Hound. So named because during the communist era in Romania, under a plan masterminded by Nicolae Ceausescu, the former megalomaniac leader, Romanian hockey coaches would train these usually docile dogs to attack any member of an opposing team that was hitting the puck. It was believed that the Hungarians had brain washed their dogs using a form of Veterinary Transference Psychology (VTP) into believing that a hockey puck was their master. As soon as the opposing team hit a puck, the dog was placed on the ice with specially fitted skates and would immediately attack the opposing team. This so spooked their competition that Hungary’s team typically placed at least in the top 5 in the Olympics. Because this type of dog is not normally a menace to Hungarian society, but only aggressive when placed on the ice, we have to give the Number 8 ranking to the Romanian Hockey Hound.

7. Number 7 on the Danger Dog Scale is the Ukrainian Saint Bernard dog. Traditionally, Saint Bernards are known for saving downed skiers with a little bit of brandy and the ability to drag almost anything, including a NY City Bus down a mountain side. However, the Ukrainian breed has a very checkered past. They invariably find skiers and always attempt to rescue them, but because of their incredible clumsiness, the Ukrainian breed usually winds up causing an avalanche resulting in the death or maiming of the stricken skier. Because Ukraine has so few sizable mountains, and the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant meltdown has kept the mountain passes at a pleasant 73 Fahrenheit year round, the death toll is only a fraction of what it would be if these same dogs worked the Alps. When asked why they keep on using the Ukrainian Breed instead of the more sure footed Western European varieties, the Ukrainian Ski Patrol always answers this way, “Well…they’re cheap!” accompanied with a shrug of their shoulders. For this reason and for the many deaths caused unwittingly by this dog, we place the Ukrainian Saint Bernard at the Number 7 ranking.

3. Have a bold vision – Speaking of goals, what are yours? Every business owner has a vision, their business wouldn’t get very far without one, but there are a lot of them out there. How to Find the Best Digital Marketing Agency

In order to find the best digital marketing agency, first, we need to understand “what is digital marketing”, “will digital marketing benefit your business” and answer the question “how do I get more leads for my business?” – which should be the purpose of any marketing.

What is a Digital Marketing Agency?
The dictionary definition of  Landscaping Montreal Digital marketing is the marketing of products or services using digital technologies, mainly on the internet, but also including mobile phones, display advertising, and any other digital medium. So simple to summarise in one sentence, yet it can be a complicated process to get right and to ensure that all of your digital marketing is working together, not as silo activities. This is where the expertise and experience of the best digital marketing agencies can be hugely beneficial.

Traditional advertising, newspapers and paper directories, such as Yellow Pages, are increasingly less effective for businesses. Whilst a few years ago people would go to a computer to search for a product or service, nowadays people are connected to the internet all day, every day and “live online”. Looking for information, a product or service is as quick and simple as searching on a laptop or computer at work or picking up their mobile telephone or tablet. Digital marketing focuses on getting your information, products and services in front of people when they are looking online. The best digital agencies understand the buying process of your products and services and ensure that your information is prominent to the potential customer at the appropriate time. In the digital marketing world, the various stages of the buying process i.e. research, consideration and purchase are called “micro-moments” and the very best digital marketing agency will present the relevant information, service or product at the targeted time in the buying process.

Whilst some digital marketing agencies will also create and manage traditional advertising or business marketing, such as newspaper advertising, specialist digital marketing agencies will concentrate on online marketing as opposed to “marketing companies” who commonly concentrate on TV, radio and print marketing.

Regardless if your business is business-to-business (B2B) or business-to-consumer (B2C), digital marketing can be a fast, often instant, and reliable way of getting leads into your business and driving up revenue. The very best digital marketing agencies will manage all of the digital advertising based on return on investment (ROI) ensuring the leads generated are at a cost that makes business sense and increases profit levels. Digital marketing will benefit your business and answers the question “how do I get more leads for my business”?

Digital marketing, sometimes referred to as website marketing, can be broken down into a number of important features and services:

SEO Services
Search engine optimisation, most commonly abbreviated to “SEO”, is the process of getting your website found on search engines like Google when people make a search relevant to your business, services or products.

Regardless if your website is e-Commerce or selling services it will drive leads and sales into your business if it is found for the search terms people use (often referred to as “keywords”) to look for them in Google.

SEO requires experience and understanding of how Google reads your website. What messages and information you want Google to read for a webpage or website and knowing where to place that information so search engines can find it. A good SEO company will have a proven track record of ranking websites high in the search results.

SEO works best when the proven methods of obtaining rankings are applied in conjunction with latest trends that are driving traffic. An example of this is the “near me” phenomenon, which has seen a 150% growth in the last 12 months, where mobile phone users are adding “near me” to their search query i.e. “SEO Company near me”. These customers are looking to buy and buy from a local service or product supplier.

Although SEO can be a stand-alone service, it is most effective when combined with PPC, social media and reputation marketing. SEO is also the cornerstone of effective PPC, social media and reputation management campaigns.

Pay Per Click
Pay Per Click (PPC) often referred to as “Google Advertising” or “online advertising” is where you position adverts at the top of the search results for specific search terms. These search terms can be the words people use when in the “research” phase of making a purchase or targeted at the “buying keywords” when potential customers are looking to buy.

Although your advert, depending on your budget, can be shown every time a search is made, you only pay when an internet user clicks on your advert and is taken to your website or calls you direct from the search results page meaning you only pay when you get a click from a potential customer hence the name for this form of marketing of Pay Per Click (often abbreviated to PPC).

Is Internet Marketing Dead, Can You Still Make Internet Income?

Once again with the changes within Google we have had a wave of devastating forecasts from the scare mongers and doom and gloom merchants predicting the end of internet marketing and the inability of making any internet income.

It seems every few months over the last decade someone else comes to the fore carrying the techcrackblogbanner of the deprived internet marketer proclaiming that some particular method of making money online is dead or dying.

The strange thing is there are still masses of people out there dedicating their time to actually making a living online and not reading or writing about it, knowing that being in the internet marketing part of this big industry is a great place to be, and they are achieving a respectable income too.

This article will discuss if it is still possible to make real internet income.

Is it still possible to make a living online?

If you step back and look at the big picture you will see the World Wide Web is constantly in flux, it has been and still is ever changing. So we find conducting business online is also changing, what worked brilliantly yesterday may probably not work at all today.

Have a look back at 2002 or 2003, for instance. AdSense websites were all over the place; many people were making money hand over fist by taking a niche article creating thousands of pages for their site, taking keywords scraped from search engine listings, and surround the whole site with AdSense.

At the time it was great and lasted a couple of years as Google had no way of telling which sites were rubbish and which weren’t, so they sent the traffic anyway.

Some people who were well financed made what would be thought of as fortunes to the average marketer, just from the clicks on the ads generated from all the free traffic.

When the wiz kids at Google saw what was going on, they screamed scam, and immediately went to work and found a way to block the offending sites.

Virtually overnight many owners of AdSense websites saw their internet income plummet by as much as 95% and more.

And true to form the deprived marketer’s banner was lifted again and articles appeared saying internet marketing had died.

Of course it hadn’t, just one less than genuine and legitimate method of earning money online was consigned to the World Wide Webs recycle bin, but the whole concept of making internet income was sill alive and kicking.

The few People who built their website with common sense, filling pages with rich content and using white hat principles, not like those using scraped and automated sites, are still out there earning from AdSense and have been for years after the ‘fly by nights’ have been long forgotten, as they went on to the next big thing “making large amounts of money from unfathomable levels of traffic”, which was Article Marketing.

If you have been around for some time you will remember the article marketing rage. As the duckers and divers quickly found that Google was not concerned about the length of an article, it could be 100 words or 2000 words it just had to be keyword rich.

So, if you remember, or if you weren’t around, I’m sure you can imagine what sort of articles where being offered up and submitted. Yes that’s right, the sort of short, wishy-washy poor information ones.

Now with Google once again changing their algorithm and making a stand by weeding out this scantily compiled bum fodder we see the deprived internet marketer’s banner being lifted once again and hear the desperate cries and wails that article marketing is dead and works no more, article marketing as a traffic generator is finished.

No, it isn’t. Bad article marketing is finished, and may I say for the good of us all, as we can benefit from the change.

If you are around long enough on the internet you will experience change.

As with anything online these changes or shifts are rather frequent. This is due in no small part to the fanatical; make a million today operators who are constantly trying to come up with new ideas. As we know the internet has basically a herd mentality and thousands of internet marketers rush to copy any idea that they think will make money instantly, just like so many sheep.

So it is we find the internet saturated with copies and badly thought out strategies applied to the new idea. Unfortunately most of these brilliant new strategies involve some form of gaming the search engines, and once again we find the search engines filtering out all that dross.

Followed closely by much wailing and banner flying of the me-too boys who have been piling into the latest money making scam.

If only they’d realized it is far better to plod along with good, old-fashioned, tried and tested ways. Sure, it’s not the latest thing, but for creating an internet income it works, and works year in year out.

The bottom line is, Internet marketing and the ability to make internet income is here to stay. If anything, as the Worlds total of internet users as of December 31st 2011, is a staggering 20112,267,233,742 and growing, it can only get bigger and better each year.

For some of those who wish to jump on the latest and greatest scam idea or latest trend, if lady luck is with them, they may make a return for a short time.

But inevitably will find that they have to reinvent themselves as their own brand of internet marketing will keep on dying.

But for those marketers that adopt common-sense website building with white hat techniques and understand that good content, honest business practices combined with high ethics will be the only ones around long enough to build a sustainable online business.

The World Wide Web is growing bigger and bigger as we speak. Internet Marketing is not dead but very much alive and in fact is more capable then ever before of giving anybody with the determination to succeed and the willingness to work hard an internet income.

What Is Step by Step Internet Marketing?

Step by step internet marketing, in my opinion is the systematic process of marketing a product on the internet; using four parts of a system called the “symphony of four parts”. This article will explain the four basic parts of internet marketing using a step by step internet marketing process.

The term, the “symphony of four parts”, by all means is not proprietary, or own by me. I am by no means the creator of this term, either. cottingfield n gauge model railway This is just a term that I have borrowed from a reputable speaker, to explain my understanding of step by step Internet marketing.

When I thought of the word symphony, what came to my mind was a song, being played by many musical instruments in an orchestra. Although these instruments were all different, they played the same tone in harmony with each other, in a systematic way.

If you are new to Internet Marketing, understanding these four parts of the symphony is critical to your success as an internet business owner. If you are not so new, then you may already be familiar with these four parts. Maybe not in the way it’s explained here in this article, but in any event you may have heard it explained.

If you are setting up a new business, whether online or offline you should always approach your setup, in a systematic way.

In my first paragraph above, you may have noticed that I used the words, “in my opinion”. When I mentioned these words, I am not necessarily referring to knowledge that I have acquired on my own, about setting up an internet business. My opinions are based on standardized marketing procedures that were tried and tested by many internet business owners, when setting up their internet business.

The symphony of four parts consists of “Keyword and Market Research”, “Traffic”, “Conversion”, and “Product Creation”. To increase your chances of success as an internet marketer, these four parts should be carried out systematically.

The “symphony of four parts” is also a step by step internet marketing testing mechanism, designed to test a niche market for viability, so you do not waste your money by proceeding further with domain and hosting purchases. Could you imagine purchasing a domain name and hosting, then later finding out that there was no traffic available in the niche to make a profit?

Step 1 – Keyword and Market Research

Keyword and Market Research is the first part of the symphony. This represents step one in the process. If you get this part wrong, then your entire campaign will fail.

To better understand Market Research, we should first understand what a market consists of.

A market is basically a group of people, or a community that share a common interest in a particular subject, or product. A keyword is a related word, or phrase that is used to market a product, or service on the internet.

Every market has its own languages. A good example of a market may be “health food eaters”. These people may be interested in foods that can be eaten, that may produce healthier lifestyles. Their languages may include terms like calories, carbohydrates, or even terms like daily value of foods.

To have a successful business on the internet, you first need something to sell. Randomly selecting a product to sell, without proper keyword and market research, is not recommended. You should first decide on a market, and then choose a product within that market sell.

When you choose a market, rather than a product, you never have to be concern whether the product you have chosen to sell to your market, will be available when you need it. You can always choose another product in that market if your first product is not available or the company that manufactured the product goes out of business.

Could you imagine building a website that is product focused, rather than market focused? Your website would be at the mercy of the product creator. It is always recommended that you build your business focused on a market, rather than a product within that market.

Step 2 – Traffic

Step two in this process represents traffic. Once you have decided on a market and a keyword to promote, the next step would be to find out whether sufficient traffic exists with your keyword. Could you imagine setting up a campaign that has no traffic associated with your keyword? Without traffic your campaign will definitely be “doomed”.

Once you are satisfied that sufficient traffic exists with the keyword that you have chosen, then you have to decide on a traffic generating methods, to capture the traffic that is associated with that keyword.

Traffic can be obtained in many forms. It can be paid, or organic. Paid traffic is referred to as traffic generating methods like pay-per-click, and solo ads.

Pay per click is the process of placing ads on Google using their Ad Words advertising system. You only pay for this traffic if your ads are clicked by site visitors. Solo ads are ads that are emailed out using other people’s mailing list that are related to your market. These ads are targeted ads.

Organic traffic can be obtained freely by writing articles and then posting those articles to a directory in the hope that they may be syndicated further. This kind of advertising is referred to as passive article syndication.

Step 3 – Conversion

This step is all about the conversion of the traffic that visited your website. Conversion refers to the action your site visitor would take, once they are on your website. They may click an affiliate add located on your website, or even opt-in to receive your newsletter.

Step 4 – Product Creation

Product creation is the final part of the symphony. Product creation is the process of creating a product to sell to your market. After you have developed a relationship with your site visitors you can offer them your own product, rather that offering them a product from someone else.

Many business owners never create their own product. You can survive without creating your own product. I know of persons who are making thousands of dollars, selling other peoples products.

Step by step internet marketing is easy, once you have mastered, and understand the four parts of the symphony.

The third part of the symphony speaks about Traffic. There are many ways to receive traffic to your website once it has been setup properly. One free option is known as Article Syndication. Why pay for traffic when you can receive it freely.

13 Insane (But True) Things About Email Marketing

As an Internet Marketer involved in the [how to make money online] niche market you dtcms want to have an effective email marketing campaign and know whether or not the email generates immediate sales or moves people closer to a purchase decision. In short, your email should invite a call to action and decision-making process for your prospects. Actions in emails usually involve clicking on links, which may include text links, images, buttons, and other graphics.

Email links come in two varieties, external web links and internal navigation links. External links open up a browser window so the person who clicks on the link is directed to a webpage. Internal links navigate to another area of a website.

You can create links to files stored on a server and links can open up the email program installed on your subscriber’s computer. A mobile device can interpret a phone number or an address as a link. Phone numbers in the text of your email dial the phone number when touched and addresses can automatically link to an online map or a map application. There is no need to program these types of links. Mobile devices can detect them automatically. Internal links, also known as anchor links, point to content within the email.

The use internal links to help the person reading your emails to skip to content below the screen from the top of the email and to skip back to the top of the email from the bottom. You can also use groups of internal links like a Table of Contents to list the articles or sections of your email and allow someone to quickly jump to that section of your email without scrolling. When creating text links, never use the phrase Click Here as the link. Instead use an action word or a phrase as the link ie, a link to add an item to an online shopping cart should say Buy this item, not “To buy this item click here”.

The more descriptive you make your text links, the better chance you have of inviting a click. For example, a link that reads More information isn’t as descriptive as a link that reads Download the 50 page catalog. When creating image links, the best practice is to include some text in the image inviting the click and explaining what the image link points to. Some images are intuitive as links so text isn’t necessary. Examples include pictures of products that link to more information about the product, company logos pointing to the homepage of a website, audio icons such as a Play button that looks like a speaker, or screenshots of videos pointing to a streaming video file.

Email marketing is all about building relationships with those on your list first. This is where you need to monitor your email tracking data, and once you have established what your prospects value, you can then divide them into groups. This will allow you to marketing different types of products and services based on your established groups.

Here are some great tips for offers included in your email marketing campaigns.

1. Coupons are great, they can be printed off, or shown on a mobile device. Use mail merge to include your prospects name on the coupon.

2. Give aways are great for free give aways, products or services in exchange for information.

Every email should contain a “Call To Action” telling your prospects what you want them to do. “Click here” is a big no, no. Be more descriptive like: Watch this video, print this document, download this pdf. You can also include several “Call To Action” within the one email.

Now having a great “Call To Action” is going to be of no benefit if your email isn’t going to be opened in the first place, in order to succeed in your open rate you need to have a from line. So people can identify with who the email is from. Now it is just as critical to have a great subject line, here you need to use words or word phrases which describes the benefit of the email. Try to not make it too long. It can be difficult to come up with a new subject line, this really is about test and measuring.

In order to interact further with your reader you can also use Social Media which will allow your emails to be sent to Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, get shared and like or be rated.

Let’s also not forget about mobile devices. More and more people are using mobile devices to read email. Most people never leave the house without keys, wallet or mobile phone. Just remember the design of your email should be suitable for all devices including tablets as well.

Generally speaking most people reading email on a mobile device are sorting through. Checking what to read, what to save or what to delete. Smartphones have much smaller screens than computers and it’s often frustrating for people to scroll around to find links, text, and images. The most effective mobile email designs take advantage of the upper-left portion of the email.
